- Registration
- The UNITA-UNIVERSITAS MONTIUM EUROPEAN ECONOMIC INTEREST GROUPING (EEIG), based on Regulation (EEC) No. 2137/85, was registered in Turin on 25 January 2023.
- Purpose and Governance
- The EEIG serves the UNITA – Universitas Montium alliance and facilitates cooperation between its members while remaining under their control. It respects each member’s specificity, maintaining a social purpose auxiliary to their institutional activities. Governance is shared, based on a permanent structure and a project approach defined by mutual agreement of the member universities.
- Activities and Services
- The EEIG enables UNITA members to offer:
- Multidisciplinary courses and excellence training to students
- Strengthened partnerships for researchers to promote regional innovation within a European framework
- Certifications and microcredentials recognized by all UNITA partners
- Professional training courses, distance learning (including MOOCs), summer/winter schools, conferences, symposia, and other dissemination events in collaboration with public or private partners
- Emphasizing its European character, the EEIG strengthens the alliance’s international influence and attractiveness.
- Future Development
- The EEIG’s main objective is to support its members in balancing higher education, research, and innovation. Planned hires include a full-time General Director, a Project Engine Office, and three IT experts (either directly by the Grouping or seconded by partners) to pilot joint recruitment of administrative and technical staff.
- Expansion
- The EEIG may incorporate additional regional or national public higher-education and research institutions, major research organizations, and other public or private research or teaching partners. Enhanced cooperation agreements can also be signed with external partners.
