Geminae Program[edit | edit source]
Geminae Program – UNITA's partner universities around the world
Taking advantage of the increased visibility and attractiveness of European Universities, UNITA aims to create a network of "sister" universities – the Geminae program – which will allow sharing best practices among institutions.
This network, based on the quality of the institutions, will be initially founded on active cooperation between Outside European Union Universities and UNITA’s partners—giving preference to institutions in Romance language–speaking countries. Over time, Geminae will grow into a dynamic community with continuously increasing partners.
This project also involves cooperation with UNITA’s associate partners: l’Agence Universitiarie de la Francophone (AUF), Organización de Estados Iberoamericanos (OEI) and Associação das Universidades de Língua Portuguesa (AULP). Their active role in Romance-speaking countries outside Europe is key to identifying new partners and cooperation topics.
The objective is to broaden the exchange of best practices developed by UNITA in areas such as training, research, innovation, and societal links. It will facilitate student mobility to UNITA and encourage occasional settlement in UNITA’s regions—where depopulation and a need for skilled workforces are current challenges.
Key Areas of UNITA[edit | edit source]
- UNITA offers a variety of programs and destinations for students who prepare through its intercomprehension training.
- Incoming and outgoing students will easily move across Romance-speaking countries, communicating in French, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish, and Romanian.
- Key thematic areas include cultural heritage, renewable energies, and circular economy—linking the past with the future and supporting economic transition while addressing climate change.
- UNITA envisions cooperation with Geminae partners in developing research projects, teaching programs, and micro-credentials.
To finance these partnerships, UNITA and its partners will participate in various calls for projects (e.g., Erasmus+ capacity building projects or initiatives such as the African Research Initiative for Scientific Excellence (Arise)).
UNITA’s Partner Universities Around the World[edit | edit source]

Initially focusing on cooperation with universities outside the European Union, this growing community will continue to welcome new partners over time.
